She went to school, and did normal student stuff. She was never supposed to be dragged into some war with aliens. How was that even possible? It felt like this had all started today, but in reality, it had been over two weeks. Amarante and the 'Animorphs' as they had apparently decided to call themselves, were being forced to fight off mind-controlling alien slugs by turning into animals. It sounded completely ridiculous, but it worked. She started by trying to 'morph' in to her pet rabbit. Somehow, she managed to do it. She turned into her own pet rabbit. She was an exact copy. Though, will all the craziness going on recently, she'd managed to acquire a few more animals, only to find out that her friend, Castle Turquoise, was a Human-Controller. She needed a break from all of this. There was way too much for her to worry about. With all of her schoolwork and such, she also had to deal with fighting aliens. Having already finished her schoolwork on this Saturday, she wanted to do something that didn't scream 'extraterrestrial'. Amarante went to the mall, and that's where she was going to spend her day. She was sincerely hoping that she didn't have to do any morphing or Yeerk-fighting today. Was that even possible? It seemed like every day leading up to now had been full of changing her form and fighting space slugs. That, and they recently found a new entrance to the Yeerk pool. It was right inside the mall, in the back of the comic store. You needed some sort of password to get down there. You'd go up to the desk, and say to the person working there, "I need a bath." It sounded ridiculous, but it got you in. They would tell you to go to the back of the store, and you'd be able to get in if you said the same to the worker in the back. Though, what they don't tell you that the worker was actually a Human-Controller, guarding the Yeerk Pool entrance. You had to pass through a few doors, and you'd be in, going down a staircase that seemed never ending as you hear screams coming from the cavern below. That was where the Pool was. Amarante wanted to forget all that for the day. She completely avoided the area of the mall near the comic store, despite that being where she would generally pick up her Doctor Who comics that they've recently put out. That all had to do with aliens anyways, though, she she figured she could take a break from that as well. She had decided to get something to eat at the food court. She got a soft pretzel, and went to sit down at a nearby table. As she was eating, she observed people passing by. Some where clearly just there on a shopping trip, while others had to have been rushing to the area of the Yeerk Pool. Amarante sighed quietly. Maybe she would encounter someone she actually knew wasn't a controller, and be able to have a Yeerk-free conversation. Perhaps not, though. She just needed someone to talk to. Where was Ken when she needed him? He was going through the same things, most likely. So, Amarante may as well try to communicate with him on the same note. |
